At least the honest ones i think apple has way too much power over its users as a modifier of behavior & software choice. Its sad, as the apple os is excellent and the hardware solid & dependable oh well sane counter arguments welcome. I would counter that Apple has no power over anyone who doesn't choose to be subject to that 'power'.

This Final Cut Pro 7 job began on my old Mac Pro tower (seen in the image above) which is still running OS 10.9. I already had FCP7 installed on that machine but had to do a large part of the cutting on my laptop. Hi, I have a retina mac book pro and have been running Yosemite 10.10.5 for years because I edit using final cut 7. I am now having problems with many softwares including safari because i have not upgraded my operating system; I have been advised by apple to upgrade to resolve these problems, though I have researched that final cut 7 does not work on OS 10.12 Sierra. This has been possible in the past with an AJA Io or similar device, or with a second Mac and a DV hardware codec, but now it is possible with no additional hardware from within Final Cut Pro 7.
They added back in features people missed in the initial release, with a lot more besides. It was a brave move to rewrite the whole application from the ground up, especially as they couldn't deliver a copy of the FCP 7 on launch. But I think it was well worth it. If FCP X doesn't appeal to you, the latest Davinci Resolve 14 is excellent and affordable too. Definitely recommend looking at that one, as it is no longer just for colour grading pro's. Whatever way they go, people need to move on.
